Parboiled White Rice enriched with Vitamins (Thiamine Mononitrate, Niacin, Folic Acid), Iron.
Stove top cooking instructions. Combine 2 cups of cold water, 1 tablespoon margarine or butter and 1 teaspoon of salt in a heavy 2-3 quart cooking container. Bring to a boil, stirring once or twice as water comes to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer. Cover and cook about 15 minutes. Do not remove lid or stir. This makes rice gummy. For drier rice – fluff lightly with fork, and let stand covered for 5-10 minutes to steam dry.
Microwave cooking instructions. Combine 1 cup rice, 2 cups cold water, 1 tablespoon margarine or butter and 1 teaspoon salt in a 2- to 3-quart deep microwave baking dish. Cover and cook on high (maximum power) for 5 minutes or until boiling. Reduce heat to medium (50% power) and cook 15 minutes. Fluff with fork
To retain vitamins do not rinse before or drain after cooking.
1 cup makes 3 cups cooked rice.
